Squirrel in the Van!

It's the middle of the day yesterday and the kids come back from school. Someone (who shall remain nameless) leaves the van's side door open--just for a few minutes. Then Kirsten gets in (the driver's seat), closes the door, and gets ready to leave for her appointment.

She hears a rustle in the back and sees a squirrel pop up!

She jumps out and comes inside, and I'm assigned to the case. And Luke has to come out to see what's going on.

So I have him stand back. I open the van's side door and stand back myself.

Silence...

The squirrel shoots out of the side door like a rocket, up the front porch stairs and right past Luke. Within a foot of Luke's feet. He flies across the porch, through the railing, across the lawn and up our neighbor's tree.

Luke and I both jump about a foot in the air, then laugh our heads off.

Don't think our van is so crumb-filled that a squirrel would think it's a gold mine. 'Cause, like, you know, um, ...
